3 PH universities among world’s best English-teaching schools

MANILA, Philippines – Three Philippine Universities are among the top 50 universities in the world when it comes to teaching English, according to a new survey by the London-based research and ratings firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

In a statement sent to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, QS said the country’s “specialist strength” in the English language was affirmed in results of its latest World University Rankings by Subject, an index that rates universities across 29 disciplines.

Vacation time

Does anybody have any idea why the jobs which I am seeing posted now offer such little or short vacation time?  This even seems to be so with the public school positions.  They want us to come from our native countries, but yet they do not seem to understand for us to go back there, since it takes so long traveling, we need about a three week stretch for it to be worth.

Visa Run - Where and What do I do?

Ok, so I'm in Korea already and I just got all of my paperwork together. After my prospective employer takes it what do I need to do? I know I need to leave the country so, if I go to Japan can I go anywhere? Do I just need to leave to re-enter Korea and get my passport stamped or do I need to go to the Korean consulate in Japan?  Thanks for any information on this process.

Application process for E2 visa without having an employer

Hello there,

I'm a Canadian and I'm wondering about the application process for an E2 visa. The thing is I would like to receive an E2 but without going through an employment agency. In other words, I would like to get a working visa to be legally entitled to teach in Korea, and then leave for Korea and look for a job myself.

I will be graduating this April (my final exam is on April 23), and I think I will only get my actual degree in the third week of May.

Job Ads- comment section

Can we have a fair "comments section" on JOBs please? It's long overdue in my opinion. All you have to do is moderate it.Why not have a "worked there" box? Then the person can contact persons who have been previously employed there.(the choice being optional)

Can we balance the scales? After all, our references are required and decided by the people who earn indirectly, or directly from our skills. Let's upgrade this expat welfare system and update this service you provide for us as the bottom-line client.
