Working over 40hrs/week or on weekends - time and a half?

Hello,

I have a simple question concerning labor laws in Korea. If you work over 40 hours a week or if you work during the weekend when you normally would not, are you entitled to receive time and a half? If yes, could you please point out to me which article of the labor code has such a stipulation?

I also have another question concerning Canadians. If you work in Korea, can you declare your income to only Korea and not to Canada? Or do you have to eventually pay income tax to Canada?

Advice for job interview

Hello, hoping for anyone to have some advice for me. I will have an interview this weekend for a position with ECC in Southern South Korea. I was told it was about 30 minutes from Busan. Any idea where this would be? I'm currently going through a recruiter who is from worknplay. I didn't plan on it that way, but it just kind of worked out. The guy seems to be geniunely nice. I got into this fairly late. I submitted my FBI background check about mid july. The recruiter said there was job openings all year. However, I am wondering if this is really true.

Problems with EPIK

Reading over other posts I have been thinking that some might be interested in knowing about this.  Simply put if you have any claims against the EPIK program I highly recommend that you get them settled before departing.  Otherwise they will be of no help to you.

korean public school-year calendar 2012?

Just looking ahead at the remainder of this year and trying to plan some things...I was wondering if any of you out there (especially public school EPIK people) might know the official calendar days for schools in Korea?  I know this year that most students are having their summer break July 23-August 17.  I was hoping that someone could tell me the remaining official days off for this year:  Chuseok, other holidays, and winter vacation days.

I appreciate the help...thanks.

Missing post

Recently there was a post on here about someone having the record length of time for teaching without a visa.  Well now I cannot find it.  Has anyone one else seen it or know who it was that wrote it?

Thank you

Need some help with ROC work permit + visa

Hello again, everyone.

My wife was hired at Taipei American School in Taiwan, and she's got her work permit and all of the necessary documentation to submit for her ROC work visa.

We've tried contacting the Chinese consulate here in Busan and the embassy in Seoul with no luck.  The recording that answers the phone is all in Chinese and Korean, and it doesn't seem as though there are any English services available over the phone.
