Conversational English Courses

Printer-friendly version

I am a Canadian offering two week conversational English courses.  The courses will be offered over the following times:

Early Morning 6:10 am until 6:55 am

The classes will be Monday to Friday from 6:10 am until 6:55am.  As the course will be run online over Zoom, you do not need to worry about getting to class early in the morning then going to work.  You can attend the class on your mobile phone, computer/laptop, or your tablet.  If you are not familiar with Zoom, Zoom allows participates to see each other over their device’s screen during the meeting.  The class will have 6-8 students.  There is pre-registration and prepayment required, however, prepayment will not be requested until there are at least 6 people registered for the course.  If there are not 6 people registered by the Saturday prior to the course starting, everyone who registered will be notified, and the course will be postponed until the following Monday, in the hopes additional participants will register.  See below for information regarding the structure of how each class will run.

Before Work 7:10 am until 7:55 am

The courses will be Monday to Friday from 7:10 am until 7:55 am.  As the course will be run online over Zoom, you do not need to worry about rushing to leave the class to get to work.  If you start work at 8:00 am you have the option to go into work early and attend the class from your office, or even while waiting in your car…but NOT when driving J. You can attend the class on your mobile phone, computer/laptop, or your tablet.  If you are not familiar with Zoom, Zoom allows participates to see each other over their device’s screen during the meeting.  This course will be informal, meaning you can attend it from any location that is convenient for you.

Lunch Time 12:10 pm until 12:55 pm

The courses will be Monday to Friday from 12:10 pm until 12:55 pm.  As the course will be run online over Zoom, you do not need to worry about rushing to leave work to get to the class or rushing after the class to get back to work.  You can attend the class on your mobile phone, computer/laptop, or your tablet from anywhere, including your office.  If you are not familiar with Zoom, Zoom allows participates to see each other over their device’s screen during the meeting.  This course will be informal, meaning you can attend it from which ever location is convenient for you and you can eat lunch while attending the class.  The classes will each have 6-8 students.

Structure of the Class

In the first class, I will introduce myself and share a bit about my background and culture.  Everyone can ask questions to get to know me better.  Then each person will have a turn and will introduce him/herself, with others having the opportunity to ask questions.  All conversation will be in English.  In subsequent classes, each person will get the opportunity to introduce a topic that everyone can discuss in English.  We will decide in the first class which day each person has to introduce their topic; but you don’t need to know your topic until the day it is your turn.  The topics do not need to be complex; they just need to be topics we can discuss in order to practice English.  Topics could include, world events/news events, travel, hobbies, foods/culture, etc.  During the conversation, I will periodically stop the conversation to correct any common grammar or pronunciation errors that I hear occurring in the conversation.  The classes will be relaxed.  Let’s meet and practice English!
