To further clarify, I'd like to address the question that was raised here - Why can users delete comments on their own classified ads, but not on forum posts?
Classified ads are temporary posts that are primarily about a transaction. While I want visitors to be able to ask questions to the advertiser and perhaps offer some civil feedback concerning price, what too often happens in reality is a handful of users take it upon themselves to post comments that are nasty, insulting, and/or harrassing. I have no problem with someone saying, "You can buy that same model now for 1/2 the price you're advertising". I do have a problem with "You friggin' scumbag loser. Stop trying to cheat your fellow expats by selling a used widget - just give it away". I am far more concerned about the tone of this website than providing a price comparison for every item offered in our classifieds. I trust consumers to pursue their self-interests, and in the context of the Koreabridge Classifieds, I think the free market works pretty well. If something is overpriced, people won't buy it. I want people to feel safe advertising something on this site. I recently saw a Facebook post from someone leaving Korea - it went something like this:
I am glad I never have to look at the awful Koreabridge expat website which is really just a site for boring, high and mighty, arrogant twats who are bitter and twisted about other expats and full of assumptions that their little life is the same as everyone elses experience in Korea.
