Summer 2011 Photo Contest Results Complete Exhibition Here |
Thanks very much to all those who participated in the contest. Thanks also to the panel of judges, headed by Jason Teale, who put a lot of effort into the judging and commenting. Because we had relatively few travel photos, we have reworked our prize structure a bit (which actually resulted in a small increase in the total prize money).

Haeundae Beach 111 | Photographer: Krilakkuma Judges Comments: Most of the judges really liked this shots for the reflections and the composition. The "S" shape of the lifeguard's chair draws the eye and makes it a more interesting frame. For a summer contest, I can think of no other shot that portrays the "event" that is summer in Korea more beautifully. This shot is not try to be anything more than what it shows and that speaks to me. The reflections from the buildings and the beach scene are extremely pleasing to the eye. |
2nd Prizes - W40,000
Summer Song | Photographer: homosapiens0023 Judges Comments: This stood out for most of the judges due to the uniqueness of the composition and the subject. A bit tight composition would have made amazing but nonetheless it is an amazing shot. |
Chungking Express Reminiscing | Photographer: abcd1234 Judges Comments: This stood out for most of the judges due to the uniqueness of the composition and the subject. A bit tight composition would have made amazing but nonetheless it is an amazing shot. |

Temple Thunderstorm by dostoevsky2181 Judges Comments: Points must be awarded for the capture of this shot and waiting out the storm. the water along with the black and white give it a more dramatic feel but slightly better composition would have made it better. The watermark also took something away from the overall feel to the photo | Prayer for Japan by albe0083 Judges Comments: Simple and dramatic. The color from the lantern makes a strong feeling conveying a soft feeling of remorse. | Pyonyang Metro, North Korea by korsaram70 Judges Comments: The leading lines and motion make this shot interesting. The fact that it was taken in North Korea make even more interesting. |
