On October 2012, an Indonesian cultural event named Knock-Knock Indonesia is being held for the first time in Busan, South Korea. This event was made by MIKy (Indonesian Students Organization in Kyungsung University) which also collaborated with KITA (Kyungsung Indonesian Traditional dance Association).

The main theme that they introduced in this event is “One door, Hundreds of Indonesians, Thousands of Excitements”. As if the audiences were invited to enter a door which leads them to see and feel the various diverse cultures of Indonesia through the traditional dances, and the choral group or solo who sang Indonesian popular songs.

Even though that was the first time for Kyungsung Univeristy students to hold an event like this, it received a lot of positive feedbacks from the audiences which inspired them to make the second annual of Knock-Knock Indonesia “The Lost Emerald”. This theme was chosen because Indonesia is positioned on the Equator and known as the Emerald of the equator for its tropical beauty.

However the second annual event which going to be held on November 2, 2013 will be different from the previous one. This time, various of traditional dances will be performed through an act and storyline. The story itself is inspired from an Indonesian folk tale called Jaka Tarub, which tells a story about a man who explored around Indonesia in a mission to find a lost princess. They will also have more additional dances this time.

This second annual event’s aim is to introduce and promote Indonesian cultures to Korean people as well as foreigners who reside in Korea. For Indonesian students, themselves, this kind of event can act as a medium to channel their creativity and love for the country. Besides this, it also serves to raise the nationalism of every young Indonesian who studies in Korea.
