3. Admission Selection Process

- Document evaluation
※ Preference is given to applicants who have a TESOL-related diploma or certificate.

- Interview (Attendance is mandatory)
 ※ Applicants who are overseas, have difficulty travelling due to COVID-19, or who are
    recommended not to attend a face-to-face interview can request a video interview
    (remote interview) by contacting the GS TESOL Office when submitting application documents.

 

4. Dual Degree & Study Abroad Program

- Dual Degree Program with Temple University (2 Semesters at Temple Univ. + 3 Semesters at HUFS)

- 3+1 Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa

1) Department Highlights

- In the GS TESOL, our primary goal is to help you to become a professional language teacher who can apply theoretical and pedagogical knowledge to real-world English language teaching situations.

 

What to expect: All classes are taught in English Learn how to address classroom challenges through theory and research Develop competence in contemporary teaching methods and assessment techniques Apply theories using multimedia and Learning Management Systems (LMS) Explore Edutech (e.g., corpus data) and design/innovative language lessons

- We offer diverse courses covering various aspects of English language teaching from second language acquisition theories to practical pedagogical applications.

 

2) Flexibility in Course Selection and Tracks

- Course Selection

 * You can freely register in any course, regardless of your major (ELT, ELT-MT)

 * Courses available in the GS TESOL:

 

- Graduation Track Selection

 * Choose from 3 graduation tracks—Thesis, portfolio, or coursework—, to align with your academic goals

- Online Classes

 * GS TESOL offers a variety of online courses each semester, enabling you to tailor your educational experience to your specific needs.

 

3) Scholarship

- Applicants with the highest scores on their entrance exam may be awarded a scholarship.
- Outstanding Academic Performance Scholarship
Students who achieved a high GPA in their previous semester may be eligible for a merit scholarship
- Scholarship for Teachers
Students who have a Teacher's Certificate(Lv.2) authorised by the Ministry of Education and are currently working full-time at an elementary or secondary school can apply for this scholarship.

 

6. Internship Program
   - GS TESOL students can participate in the overseas internship programs offered by the    
    TESOL Professional Education Center at HUFS.
   - Overseas Internship Programs:
    * Internship at California State University(San Bernardino):
   Students can take part in the 4-week internship programs at California State University.
    * Internship at Selkirk College(Canada):
   Students can participate in the 4-week internship programs at Selkirk College(Canada).

 

7. Special Features

- No TOPIK requirement for foreign students

- Class hours are between 6:30 p.m. ~ 9:40 p.m. (2 classes per day), 2 to 3 days a week (weekdays).
