Gay in Taipei: The Quest for Marriage Equality

One of the things that truly boggles my mind, is that in the 21st century, we, as a global society, are still having conversations about gay-rights and gay marriage. There’s this absurd notion people choose to be gay – like anyone would ever consciously want to face torment? Individuals within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community (LGBT for short), continue to face an uphill battle around the world, and especially in Asia for the basic human right of marriage. In fact, only seventeen countries across the globe recognize this basic right.
