The Best Book I Used to Learn Korean

In my humble opinion, this is THE BEST book on the market for new learners of Korean. It takes you from learning to read hangul (가 Ga 나 Na 다 Da), to pronunciation, to basic conversations. Also the topics discussed in the dialogues are interesting and relevant, rather than the often stale "Hello" "Hello" "Nice to meet you" "Nice to meet you too". This book took me from an aspiring Korean language learner to being able to read and write in Korean, and gave me lots of cultural insights which helped me adjust to my life in Korea. Also, this book shows direct English translations of the dialogues in Korean, which I found VERY useful. This sets apart Survival Korean from other books on the market. I first used this book casually in 2006 (just chapter one then gave up) and picked it up again in 2009. I am not familiar with the beginner resources out there now, but I would recommend at least flipping through this book at the bookstore and seeing if it's right for you. Choosing a language textbook is a very personal experience, and different books suit different personalities. For me, this book really worked well with my learning style and my interest in Korean culture. "Survival Korean" by Stephen Revere I hope this video helps prompt you to go to the bookstore and buy yourself a textbook to start teaching yourself Korean :D
