the uncertain truth of the matter

We  will all lose someone we love.

They will move away.

They will leave the earth in some way.

We will all lose someone we love.

The intial impact is shocking, coarse, and rough.

The days go by, and the burden of sorrow releases pressure and applies more.

We will all lose someone we love.

We have a new image in our head.

One of them alive, and one of them dead.

We are able to remember more.

Stories, conversations, adventures.

Then we are unable to remember their voice.

We will all lose someone we love.

We hold pieces of what we recall in a place ignited by circumstance and scent.

We remember on days that wouldn’t have indicated otherwise.

We will all lose someone we love.

There is still the living, those that surround us now

And there are so many gone with no explanation of how.

We will all lose someone we love.

We need not try and understand the reasons why.

We must refrain.

There is no simple answer.

There is nothing we shall gain.

We hold them in a different place

both mind and spirit alike.

We now hold the uncertain truth.

We will all lose someone we love.
