Job Description
Blizzard Entertainment seeks a seasoned eSports and community senior manager with excellent leadership, management, communication skills and passion for gaming / social networking services (SNS) to join our Korea team.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who is flexible and can adapt quickly to changing goals and objectives. This person is also highly organized and able to work independently while contributing to the goals of a team.
Responsibilities
- Develop, and / or, execute eSports / community strategies and manage the execution of eSports competitions (e.g., GSL), events (e.g., G-Star), and offline / online community events.
- Provide industry and local insights as input to the global eSports / community strategies.
- Lead relationships and shape agenda with the Korean eSports (e.g., KESPA), and related organizations (e.g., broadcasting partners), and generate new relationships, as required.
- Continue building up the online / offline communities and support for Blizzard Entertainment Korea across franchises (Starcraft, Warcraft / World of Warcraft, and Diablo).
- Generate innovative ideas to build healthy eSports ecosystem and player community.
- Develop, and execute viral strategies on social networking services (e.g., FB, Twitter, Kakao Talk) to improve communications with professional video gamers, and attract and retain casual / hard-core video gamers.
- Provide strong thought leadership and mentorship to current eSports and community managers, and teams.
- Work collaboratively with the Korea management team, and functional eSports and community counterparts in the United States Headquarters to communicate updates and push for decisions.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Strategic thinker and project leader with a strong business and execution background
- Native level Korean, and strong written and oral communications skills in English
- Posses excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, while maintaining an ability to always stay focused on the work at hand
- Able to confidently communicate Blizzard Entertainment products, with both eSports partners and community influencers
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of online video games, and industry
- Passionate video gamer, with a deep understanding of Blizzard Entertainment and RPG / MMORPG games
- Extremely detail-oriented, organized, and driven to consistently meet deadlines
- A minimum of 7 years working experience in video gaming, technology, consumer products / electronics, competition, and, or community-related fields
- Able to organize thoughts, and make decisions under time constraints and a full work load
- Experience in managing a team(s), including providing direction, mentorship, and coaching
- Strong team player, able to balance various stakeholder needs and views into effective strategy, and work with other teams to support each other’s plans and objectives
Pluses
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing / business, or related field, with graduate school (e.g., MBA)
- Experience at a social networking services provider, and / or planned, and executed social networking services strategies (e.g., FB, Twitter)
- Have been actively involved in sports, and / or other competitions (e.g., tournaments)
