Homebrew Tasters Class

makgeolli tasters class poster

We have had many awesome classes at Susubori Academy to learn how to brew a good batch of makgeolli.  The community of expat makgeolli brewers continues to grow, so we thought the next logical step would be to share the results!  MMPK is once again teaming up with your expert teachers at Susubori to have our very first open homebrew tasters class.

What  will be involved?

Anyone who wants to participate should decide on what kind of brew they would like to contribute, and get brewing!  Each participant should bring enough of their batch for 20 people to taste (about 2 Liters).  Everyone will have the opportunity to taste the variety of brews, make their own evaluations and share their own brewing techniques.

Is there a competition?

Although this is a learning experience, there will also be a little friendly competition.  A panel of makgeolli industry professionals will be tasting the brews, and voting for their favorite!  The prize for the winner will be a one-on-one tutorial of advanced techniques with the expert herself, Becca Baldwin.

Who can participate?

Anyone who wants to brew!  There is no restriction on who would like to offer up their makgeolli for tasting.  You may have taken a class at Susubori or have just been a homebrewer of your own design, as long as you have your own makgeolli you can attend.

How do I sign up?

First you need to decide on your brew and make sure it will be available for tasting by March 15th.   Once you are sure of what you will brew, you need to send us the following brew information to [email protected]

1.  Full Name

2.  Name of your brew

3.  Recipe (proportion of rice, water, nuruk and any added ingredients)

4.  Photo of yourself

The deadline for registering for the class will be Monday February 24th

If you have any questions about the class or registration, feel free to drop as an email and we will help you out!
