Bar Review: Monster

I went to Monster over the weekend, which is the newest bar in the Jongno area. Karaoke and beer fans will like this place.

Monster is a self-bar -- grab your own beers, bring your own snacks, and save a lot of money. With domestic beers starting at 2500 won, Monster will not bankrupt you. I'm a big fan of self-bars and pretty happy that I can do self-bars in gay Seoul now. They also have a good karaoke selection with both Korean and Western hits.

The crowd was a little beary and not the easiest place to flirt. However, with plenty of seating, it'd be a great place to bring a bunch of friends for a fun and cheap night.

My favorite part of the night? Singing IU with my 끼순이's and getting quite the positive reaction from the crowd. Unfortunately, I didn't quit while I was ahead; I tried to do a 2NE1 song later and fucked that shit up... How could I not follow rule number one of karaoke? Only do songs that you know well.

To get to Monster, take exit 5 of Jongno 3 Ga (종로 3 가) and do a quick U-turn. Walk straight with the building/tunnel thingy on your left and then take your third right. Monster bar will be on your left next to a Mini Stop. The bar is located in the basement (and note, there is a sauna next to the bar. If you get too drunk, an easy place to crash).
