The Gal·Maet·Gil Walking Festival will take place around Busan City from October 12-14, 2012. The event will include coastal and forest walks, as well as Gal·Maet·Gil walks in each of Busan's 15 gu (districts) and gun (county), and a seminar.

The festival aims to promote the fame of the Gal·Maet·Gil footpaths as new tourism attractions in Busan, and to encourage locals and tourists alike to learn about the local history, culture and ecological environment, by taking a gentle stroll along the paths.

Gal·Maet·Gil are specially designated footpaths around Busan. The name combines two words: Galmaegi, meaning‘seagull’ and Gil, me aning ‘path’. To promote the city’s beautiful footpaths, the Gal·Maet·Gil symbol and logo are used on the Gal·Maet·Gil information boards, footpath maps and signs.

With a total combined length of 263.8km, the 9 Gal·Maet·Gil trails are each divided into two or three shorter segments, and include beautiful stretches of coastal, riverside, forest and downtown paths all around the city.

① Blue Walk

○ Course: Songdo Beach → Amnam Park → Songdo Beach (4 km)
○ Fee: 1,000 won
A sea swimming event by the Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam Swimming Association will take place in conjunction with the walking event.

② Green Walks across Busan’s 15 districts and 1 county 
○ Date: October 13 - 14, 2011 
○ Venues: Busan’s 15 districts and 1 county 
○ About 14,000 participants expected

③ Green Walk
○ Date & Time: (Sunday) October 14, 2012, 2 pm - 4:30 pm. 
○ Course: O ncheoncheon Saebyeong-gyo Bridge → APEC Naru Park (4 km)
○ Fee: 1,000 won 
A 'green market' for charity will take place at APEC Naru Park after the walk.
