You are cordially invited to the first annual Ballin' in Busan: 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament! The date is tentative as I will try to reserve both of the courts at PNU for the day. The official rules are listed below, however, I want to add that each team must have at least 1 girl or 1 Korean on the team. If you don't know a Korean then you must have at least 2 girls. If you want to help out with the event, such as score keeping or be a referee, please send me a PM. Stay tuned for updates. BALLERS UNITE!

WHEN: 06/25/2011 (Tentative)
LOCATION: Pusan National University (PNU)
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 06/18/2011
*Please include team name

UPDATE#2 (06/01/2011)
I'm glad that more female bballers are starting to come around because I was so close to making this an all men bball tournament. However, if more girls participate then I will create an all female tourney. That said, I am making this a ROUND-ROBIN TOURNAMENT. For those that aren't familiar with the term just check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round-robin_tournament I'm in the hunt for sponsors and volunteers! Cheers!

UPDATE #1 (05/30/2011)
I contacted PNU and I was informed that both of the courts are reserved for the rest of the year. However, they weren't specific as to which court is reserved: the soccer field or the basketball courts. Anyway, I guess we're going to bully other players and hog 1 of the courts for the entire day.

Next, it seems that there is a problem with the 1 girl/ 1 Korean rule. I know most of you don't know any Koreans or don't have girl friends (@Brady from Seoul) so I will amend the rule: teams must have at least 1 girl or 1 Korean on the team. If you don't know a Korean then you must have at least 2 girls or at least 1 ginger on the team. Keep in mind that the fourth player, if you choose to have one, does not have to play at all. The fourth player can just cheer for the team from the side. (Use your fourth player wisely!)

Right now I want to see how many people are actually participating and I will only consider people listed as "Attending". If you don't have a team before the event, I will assign you to a team.

Last, if your basketball skills are a bit rusty you should come out every Saturday to PNU (12:00pm) and play some bball with NETs and locals. There is a solid group of basketball players that will gladly help you with your game. I'll keep you guys posted! Thanks!

NUMBER OF PLAYERS
Teams may consist of either three (3) or four (4) players that are registered by the tournament entry deadline. (Saturday June 18, 2011) Under no circumstances will player/roster substitutions be allowed after the tournament begins. All games must start with at least three (3) players on each team. Any number of players (1, 2, or 3) may complete a game. Players may appear on only one team for the tournament. If any player appears on more than one team, that player will be expelled from the tournament.

KEEPING SCORE
A basket is worth one (1) point. A successful basket behind the two-point arc is worth two (2) points. A player must have both feet behind the line to be considered a made shot to be counted as 2 points.

WARM UP TIME
Both teams will have warm-up time prior to the game at their assigned court. Warm-up time is dependent upon the weather and adherence to the tournament game schedule, and may be as little as 3 minutes.

LENGTH OF GAME
The first team to reach sixteen (16) points within thirty (30) minutes of play is declared the winner. The thirty (30) minute clock will be stopped during team time-outs and if the referee or court monitor stops play for a player injury or other unusual circumstance. In all situations, the referee or court monitor can declare a technical foul if he/she determines that a team is intentionally stalling to run out the clock.

If neither team has reached a score of sixteen (16) points, the referee or court monitor shall stop the game after thirty (30) minutes of play.

If a score of 16 is not achieved within 30 minutes, and a team has a lead of one or more points, that team is declared the winner. If the teams are tied, overtime will be activated. In overtime, a coin flip will determine which team has the initial possession. The game winner will be the first team to score two (2) points in overtime.

TAKING IT BACK
The ball must be “taken back” on each exchange of possession regardless of whether a shot was attempted. Failure to properly “take-it-back” will result in loss of possession and any points just scored. “Taking it back” means bringing your whole body, both feet and the ball behind the two-point arc.

TIME OUT
Each team is allowed a single one (1) minute time out per game.

PLAYER SUBSTITUTION
Player substitution is allowed during a time out or any dead-ball situation.
