The Hiroshima Peace Memorial sits in the middle of bustling Hiroshima city in Japan. The memorial, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, is dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in the atomic bombing of the city on August 6th, 1945. Nearby, the Hiroshima Peace Park contains dozens of memorials and a museum.
