I spent the weekend in Daegu with some friends, and this is a short video from inside the subway station on the platform. I remember the first time I came to Daegu (a few years ago) I was impressed by the reusable tokens for single-use rides. All the major cities in Korea have great subway systems which are clean, efficient, and speedy, but this is the only one I've seen with reusable plastic tokens. In Seoul, you buy a metro card (called T-money card) and add money to it, which also saves plastic by not forcing you to buy a new card every month. I'm still using the T-money card i first bought in 2006. How's that for efficiency!? It's wonderful to see big cities adopting green systems and seeing it action. We need more of this around the world. |
