When it comes to choosing a guesthouse / hostel, personally for me there are four considerations: location, safety, cleanliness and price.

Wow guesthouse interior lobby, Haeundae, BusanWow Guesthouse ticks all of these boxes:

Location:

The guesthouse is in a perfect spot if you are visiting Busan for the sea. It’s a 5 minute walk from Haeundae subway stop and a stone’s throw from the beachfront. There are also numerous bars and restaurants just around the corner from the hotel.

Safety:

Located just off a main street and adjacent to a 24 hour family mart – handy for supplies (Oh God bless FM).

Having opened its doors only two months ago, the place and contents are brand spanking new. The interior is colourful and tasteful (please refer to my amateur photographic images). Each room comes equipped with air-conditioning units. However there is not much in the way of storage. Nonetheless, the rooms itself are a comfortable size.

Laundry is available if you’d like your clothes to get clean.

Price:

Rooms & rates are as follows:

Private room with double bed: 80,000 to 100,000 won (per room)
Dormitories (8 or 10 beds to a room): 25,000 to 35,000 won (per person)
“Ondol”* room sleeps 4: 25,000 to 35,000 won (per person)
(Note that ‘ondol’ are traditional rooms with no beds, just blankets to get shut eye on – that’s sleep to any of you non-Brits. Please learn this Korean word as if you intend on seeing winter in this country it’ll mean the difference between a good & bad night’s sleep away from home).

I should mention that you can expect to pay at the higher end of the tariff due to it being the peak summer season.

There’s a small communal area with seating and a kitchen counter . Wifi is of course available.
Guests can help themselves to complimentary breakfast consisting of toast & coffee.
There’s no curfew but lights have to be out by 11.30pm.
