Watch Lawyer-turned-baker Esther Kang on ‘MasterChef’

A couple years ago, Esther Kang had an established job as an entertainment lawyer, an accomplishment most Korean parents would brag about all day long. Although Kang was happy with law, she decided to quit to do something some might call crazy. According to an interview with LA TV Insider Examiner, Kang opened up a cookie company, Batch from Scratch, a small sample of what she can do, but her ideal way to break into the culinary field. Some of her flavors include the traditional chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies, and range all the way to flavors like lemon-lavender and brownie with butternut scotch.

In the time she began working on her cookie bake shop, Kang entered Masterchef Season 2 and saw it as an extra opportunity to work with food. With dishes like her signature Korean Braised Spicy Black Cod with Daikon and Stone Pot Rice it’s no wonder she’s closing in on top 10 in the competition. You can catch MasterChef on Tuesdays at 9/8c on FOX.
