From: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=130366680313414 Hello Mustard Seeders! Our next time volunteering is Saturday, June 5th. We meet at Sindaebang Stn on the Green # 2 line at 1:30, outside exit # 2. Sindaebang Stn is in the southwest part of the Green #2 circle line. Please do your best to be on time, but if you are late, or don't think you can make it please call or text Kaleen at 010 2239 9391 to let us know. We will volunteer from 2-5pm. From 2 – 2:55 is the first period. Then we switch kids. From 3 – 3:55 is the second period. Then, if the weather is nice, we'll head to a playground to play with the kids; duck duck goose, tag, climbing on the jungle gyms, general horseplay and tomfoolery! Depending on the number of volunteers, we will divide up the kids in 3-5 groups. They have 5 classrooms. We should have at least two volunteers to a group to make things go smoothly and enjoyably. The kids are at a pretty basic level. The lowest level kids are at the “I’m fine, thank-you” stage. The older ones can handle a little more. If you come with a few ideas, a few flashcards, a story book, or something like that, between the 2-3 teachers in a class you can have a great time and really help the kids. Tag team teaching! When we get to the center we'll put your in your teaching groups and give you a few minutes to game plan. If you can have an idea for the younger kids and idea for the older kids, that's perfect. The center doesn't have much in the way of resources; there are no computers for PPT's and if you want to use music you'll have to bring you're own mp3 player and speakers. A couple of the classrooms have small whiteboards, but not all of them. We'll do our best to accommodate you if you absolutely need a whiteboard but can't make any promises. They do have lots of crayons and markers. Sometimes the kids are pretty well behaved, and sometimes the inmates end up running the asylum, so be ready to change gears in a hurry, and if all else fails just color and give piggy back rides. And it’s not just about helping them with their English. For these kids this is a rare opportunity to spend time with foreigners and get some extra love and attention. The kids are very appreciative and enthusiastic about our visits. We always have a great time, and they are looking forward to us being back again. See you there!
