The documentary film "63 Years On" will be shown at a FREE screening at Jogyesa Temple Theatre on April 11, 2010 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. The film is in multiple languages with English subtitles only. Speaker and discussion after the film (The film itself is 63 min long).

This is an opportunity for both the Korean and International communities to further engage with the ‘Comfort women’ issue and to support the continuing fight for justice. 

In this film, award-winning Korean director Kim Dong Won presents the harrowing experiences of 5 international survivors of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery. The very personal telling of their experiences is matched with excellent research and archival footage to create a powerfully honest, determined, and often heartbreaking documentary. While this gripping film may evoke great sadness and anger, the bravery displayed will truly inspire all who see it.

The House of Sharing International Outreach Team works to raise awareness of the issue of Japanese military sexual slavery and to support the Halmoni in their on-going struggle for historical reconciliation and justice. The team is composed of both foreign and local volunteers who lead visits at the House of Sharing in English, and work to highlight the continuing crimes against humanity in the form of sexual violence during war, experienced to this day by women and children across the world. 

This screening provides a window to an episode of Asian and International history which has been willfully ignored by so many for more than 63 years. You are invited to join the House of Sharing and show your support to the survivors who continue the fight for justice.

After the screening, volunteers will lead small group discussions about the film. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, express your opinions or just share your thoughts. Please join us if you can!

***DIRECTIONS TO JOGYESA TEMPLE***
Jogyesa Temple is located in Jongno, on the street behind Insa-dong. You can walk there in a short time from Jonggak Station, or it's also accessible from Anguk Station (Exit 6). 

From Anguk station Exit 6, walk straight & pass the main street to Insadong. Cross the street to reach the temple structure in front of you. The theatre is in the new museum building behind the main temple structure.

영화는 한국 다큐멘터리 영화 역사상 기념비적인 작품을 많이 만들어낸 김동원 감독의 작품으로써, 5명의 ‘전 일본군 위안부’ 생존자들의 끔찍한 경험을 담아내고 있습니다. 이들이 겪은 극한 상황들은 감독의 치밀한 조사와 고증을 통해 진실되고 확고한 사실에 바탕을 둔 가슴아린 영화로 탄생되었습니다. 가슴 아픈 사연을 담고 있는 김동원감독의 영화를 보고 여러분은 커다란 슬픔과 분노를 느낄지 모릅니다. 하지만 여러분들은 또한 보는 이들에게 큰 감동을 주는 할머니들의 용감한 의지 또한 목격하게 될 것입니다. 
나눔의 집 국제 활동 팀은 일본군 성폭력 피해자들의 문제를 이슈화하는 데 힘쓰고 있으며 공식적인 사과와 정의 구현을 위해 지속적으로 투쟁하고 있는 할머니들의 끝나지 않은 전쟁을 지지하고 있습니다. 우리는 또한 전시기간 중 발생한 성폭력 범죄를 대중에게 부각시키기 위해 노력하고 있으며, 현재 전 세계적으로 여성과 아동을 대상으로 행해지고 있는 성폭력 문제를 이슈화 하는데도 힘쓰고 있습니다.
