| The Great Admiral Yi Sun Shin Festival, which is held in Asan, celebrates one ofKorea’s most famous war heroes ‘Yi Sun-shin”, who defeated the Japanese in a momentous naval battle around 460 years ago. The festival takes place in the period around the Admiral’s birth date on April 28 in order to commemorate his achievements.
Events at the festival will include a reenactment of the parade when Yi Sun-shin took his sailors off to war and displays featuring detailed reproductions of the famous turtle-shaped ships (Geobukseon, “Turtle Ship”), which were used in battle. |

| Travel from Seoul Station to Cheonan Station. To get to Cheonan Station either take subway line 1 (2hrs) or take the Mugunghwa Train (departs every 10min~1hour / est. travel time of 1hr 10min). From Cheonan Station take bus #900, 920, 940, or 91 for about 15 minutes to get to the festival grounds. |
