My girlfriend and I are looking to shake things up a bit tomorrow and see someplace new. In the past we've done Jinhae, Cheongdo, Daegu, Ulsan and Walnae. Anybody know a nice little town we can take the train to? Maybe a cool little town with some nice scenery?
We are both adventurous and cheap.
Re: Where's a good place for a day trip?
Usually the train trip from Pusan to someplace is good if you use the Eastsea-southen line train course("DongHae-Nambu-Sun in Korean language). It follows the East-Sea line to the Gangweon province with beautiful seashores and scenery. As you know Korea is a peninsula with three part-seas of the land. It is called as West sea, East sea and South sea. Through the seashore trip you can feel the korea nature and characters easily and exactly. If you need the price and time schedule and more information I can check those for you...or send me email for easier help.

Most definitely Gyeong-ju. Catch the train from Haeundae station. Awesome area.

Gyeongu is kind of lame but if you dont drive going there is easy and there are things to do. They have the amusment park there and a water park. The temples and stuff are nothing special-lots of 'history' but that does not make it better to look at but if you like that kind of stuff, then off you go. Be prepared to be run over by a million kids on little bikes and so on, though. Very busy area for families. If you could, I would go to Namhae or even Goege Island. Namhae would require you taking a bus but the beaches there are really nice and the town quaint. Goeje you could take a ferry there from the Busan ferry terminal. It is a nice island. Have a 'famous' rock beach there. Last summer there were hammerhead sharks caught there but I would not go there hoping to see one...lol Anyway, have fun.

Gyeongju is nice for a day trip I guess. If you've seen one temple you've seen them all, that's my take.
Namhae is decent but it's too long on a bus for a one day trip. you are looking at 6hours (3there and 3back minimum). 2 days is better.

Yeah, I never understood why Korean praised the tombs so much. They are just mounds of grass . If you have ever been to a golf coarse then don't bother going to see the tombs. One person compared them to Angkor Wat, I just laughed in his face.
