Paying for Medical checkup and apartment maintenance/water

Could someone please advise their experience/knowledge regarding payment for medical checkup which is necessary to obtain the ARC.

I was charged 89,000 won which was deducted from my first salary.

I was also charged 35,000 won for water/maintenance on my apartment, which is going to be deducted monthly. Is this the norm?

This is my first time in Korea so not sure what is the usual. Would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Unless it was specifically stated that the tab for the medical check would be picked up, it is your responsibility.

Every apartment complex/building has a different amount for maintenance fees but yes, it is normal.  It usually covers your cable service, as well.  I don't think it covers water but I guess that would depend on the building/complex.

It varies a lot, but usually the teacher pays for the medical checkup.

For utilities (e.g. water and maintenance), you could pay it directly yourself but if you've seen the bill and know that the amount being deducted is correct, then I'd just leave it at that. It will make your life easier. 35,000 Won/month sounds ok.

Make sure that each month you get a pay slip that shows what deductions are being made. It will help later if there's ever any problems.
