Paying up a contract and converting to a prepay plan. Possible?

Hi guys!

I was wondering if any of you could give me some advice/ point me in the right direction.

I'm leaving Korea on the 23rd December, but due back in mid-February. I've been paying my current contract for 10 months now, and was wondering if it is possible (as it is in the UK) to pay up my contract and convert to a pre-pay plan in preparation for next year.

As I'm leaving mid-month, my thinking is that 'll need to cancel my contract by the end of November, or else face charges for use in December, which would be taken out of my (dormant) account in January, therefore this isn't an option. Am i wrong?

Otherwise, do any of you have a cheap pay as you go phone you'd be willing to lend me for the remaining three weeks of my time here? There's a beer in it for anyone who can help!

Thank you,

Michael

To terminate a contract with

To terminate a contract with a cell phone carrier, you have to pay a termination fee. The amount varies from carrier to carrier. Now, if you have a phone that was purchased through the payment installment program that they offer, you'll have to pay that up in full, along with the termination fee. As far as switching, I'm not sure. I'm guessing that you'll have to get a whole new phone number when switching to the prepay service.
