New CBC (FB! ) background check law ?

I went to the Police Station in Jungang Dong near the immigration office . The police station told me they no longer can do fingerprints that are needed to send the FBI . Has anyone else run into this problem ? The first step is to get the fingerprints . Do police stations in Korea still do fingerprints ? I was told to contact the USA Embassy in Seoul . I will do this but it takes a few days for the information to be sent me . Thanks for any info .

Have you gone anywhere else? Only specific police stations do them. Usually the CSI departments in the major offices. Go to the one in Seomyeon across from Lotte.

I got mine done at the Nam-gu Station a month ago.
It actually said 'Busan CSI' on the wall.

Someone went to that Police Station  and had it done last year so I went there . That is a rather big police station .  Perhaps too many people went there since it is near Busan Station .  So I will check the one near Lotte in a day or two . I checked USA Embassy Website and it says they don't do fingerprints and say to go to a Korean Police Station . Perhaps I just went to the wrong station .  Thanks for the information . I will try at the two places mentioned above . Thanks again .

I went to the Police Station near the Lotte .   It worked well . I had my fingerprints in less then 10 min . The next step is to take the application from the FBI website  and send it to them along with the credit card paper application . I wonder if its better to make my return address in Korea or USA ? I wonder how long this process will take ?   I heard about 3 months but one never really knows i think . Thanks  for the information .    .

Sending fingerprints to the FBI and receiving the background check in the U.S. took about 1.5 months. If your parents are at all inclined to be helpful, it might be best to just have them take care of it with you guiding them. Once the clean background check is received, it has to be sent to the State Dept. for the federal apostille, which itself requires an $8 per document fee and a special form sent with it (DS-4194). Good info on all federal apostille stuff here (http://www.state.gov/m/a/auth/c53215.htm). That takes about 2 weeks to get back after sending off. Again, all of my timeframes are to and from in the U.S. If someone can confirm that any of that can happen any more quickly from Korea, I'd be curious to know as I plan on staying for a while and will likely have to go through this again though from Korea next time.

Will be headed to Busan in 10 days and am very stoked to be coming back after 4+ years and I'm sure a lot of changes (including all of these new immigration laws).
