Cell Phone Questions

Hi everyone.

So I'm planning on buying a smartphone from SK wireless. My budget is around 500,000W. I have an E-2 visa, so I can't pay the smartphone off every month. I have to buy the phone all at once.

My questions: What is the best phone I can get right now at a 500,000W budget? How would it compare to a Galaxy S 2 at 845,000W?

I have looked at olleh and LG, but LG wants a 200,000W deposit, and olleh does not give E-2 foreigners cell phones.

Best regards,

Harrison

More information:

I plan on being here for 2 years, so contracts don't bother me.

Compatibility with American cell phone networks is a huge plus. But it's not essential.

Re: Cell Phone Questions

Hi Harrisonp,

Thanks for posting your situation.  You probably already have a phone now, but this message is for you and anyone else who may be interested in getting a cellphone in Korea.

SK Telecom’s change in policy last year was a step in the right direction for foreign residents who have previously paid more or received less than the options available to Korean citizens.  Now foreign residents, including E-2 visa holders, can get a 24-month unlocked iphone contract during their time in Korea.
