Joint Account Possibilities
We had always heard it was impossible until the last time we asked at Busan Bank. This last time they said it is possible to have two names on the account - I think marriage/F-2 visa is required, but not sure.

I tried to do the same thing

I tried to do the same thing with my wife about a year ago. We went to Nong Hyup and Busan Bank with no luck.   Even with our marriage certificate, they said it was impossible. We ended up just getting separate accounts and two cards for each account.  A little annoying when you are used to having one single account.

As I when we went to register

As I when we went to register an apt. in my name. They told me foreigners couldn't own property in Korea. After a call or two to city hall and some egg on their faces, yes foreigners could(without loans or perhaps even that's changed now, this was years ago). We can ever drive cars I said and can eat kimchi!!!

Koreans don't know their jobs, even if they have been at them for years. It's just easier to say 'impossible' when lunch break is only 30minutes away. and it's nearly 'impossible' to get fired from a bank or gov't job.

Loans

Foreigners can own property, businesses and even get loans these days.  I got one last year.  Fully in my name.

  Well that's nice to know

Well that's nice to know now, thanks for the info. I'm not really in the market for borrowing but there might be a time when I am. I'm sure for simplicity sakes we would just use my wife's name.

Really, it is nice to see that Korea is out of the dark ages when it comes to this concidering many of the foreigners I know do well.
