University Teaching Job and a TEOSL Masters?

Hello all...

I'm considering taking a Master's program offered through PNU in the field of TEOSL.  Here's my main  question:  How valuable is that for increasing my opportunities as an English Instructor in Korea?  Right now, i'm in the public school system and would like to ease into a university position in the future.  Does any one know how  the system works?  Do some GETs get "promoted" into a university position after teaching in the public schools for a few years?  Is the pay substantially different between University and the lower grades?  Any input on this question will be helpful...

Yes it will help.  With a

Yes it will help.  With a couple of years of public school teaching and an MA in TESOL (even from a Korean uni) I think you would have very reasonable prospects of getting a university job.  These prospects will be increased dramatically if you are not determined to live in Seoul.

Uni conversation instructor jobs range anywhere from about 1.8 to 2.7 in Busan and get as high 4.0 in Seoul although you will almost definitely need an MA and university teaching experience to get those jobs.

I'm teaching Practical English at the University level right now in Busan, and it is pretty much what Dogarse said.  Though I've never taught at the Korean public school system, I feel that this job definitely has its perks. I teach 8 classes a week, 2 classes a day.  I'm off one week day and weekends.  I teach 3 hours a day and I'm done =).
