Hi, everyone.  I have a q...

In the past I had xpeed internet and then got rid of it.  It's been about 6 or 7 months, and I tried to have sk broadband installed and it wouldn't work.  I have a Gateway and it uses Windows Vista.  We have run into all kinds of trouble.  SOooooo..here's my question:  what internet service providers are you using here in Korea? 

I took my laptop to Gaya Computer Mall to have it looked at.  The guy there said he wants to gut the system and change it to Windows 7 if he can..but who knows...  Please let me know your suggestions.  I am really not so great with computers.  The wifi was working to pick up my neighbor's internet..but it said that the proxy settings were messed up.  I have no idea..It's stressing me and everyone else out.  I'm not sure if it's my LAN card or if my computer's just not compatible with SK broadband..it worked before with Xpeed.

I just signed up with KT-Qook. I am paying 30 bucks a month for a 3 year contract. I also got a free signing up bonus of 150 bucks in Homeplus gift certificates! (Other options included the same for Shinsegye and Lotte department stores, a vacuum cleaner, a Samsung camera and an Internet phone). I signed up online which was relatively easy if you have basic Korean and arranged the day and time for the engineer to come, they called me to confirm everything which was a little confusing since my Korean isn't that good, but I just said yes when she paused and the guy turned up today as planned.

I honestly can't see how your computer could be at fault, if it worked before it should work now. I actually use Linux Mint which flumixes many Koreans, but it works just fine. Your operating system too shouldn't be an issue either. Be careful of Windows 7 as well if your computer isn't that new it may struggle to run it.

My guess would be that the SK engineer doesn't know what he is doing. Have you tried connecting your computer at another source, like work, to check the Internet. It might be worth a shot. If it works I would try a different company such as KT-Qook or Tbroad.
