busan immigration phone number

Does anyone else feel that the immigration phone line is absolutely horrible?

I tried calling the busan immigration office to ask them some questions about changing my sojourn of stay for TWO HOURS yesterday and have tried once again today for the last 20 minutes. How is it possible that immigration only has one person working on the phone lines? There is no holding or anything, I just get a voice that says that their lines are busy. Does anyone know any other phone number I can call? I just have a quick question to ask them about changing visas. It doesnt even have to be the busan office from what I know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: busan immigration phone number

I hate to say it, but it is best to just go there, especially if you can find a translator. I just went to the office in Jungan and it took about 3 hours in line to submit paperwork.

Because Koreans are very closed about the idea of foreigners in their country, they have no wish to make things easier. They think that the most educated people will have the most patience, and so those are the only people they want in their country. I even took a class about Korean immigration problem in my university. It is very serious, but there is little you can do. And remember, you are not entitled to have any benefit. Sucks, I know.

Now that I have finished preaching, I'd suggest that you either take time off from work or find a big chunk of your day where you can go there in person to get everything cleared up. Go with a translator and get there before they open. I arrived an hour after they opened and waited almost three hours.

Good luck to you!!!

Re: busan immigration phone number

If you're dialing the Busan Immigration Office directly, you are wasting your time. You should be calling the Immigration Help Line. I've always had excellent service from them.

The number is: 1345

Dial 1345 from any phone (cell, land) and they'll be able to answer any questions you might have, or will be able to point you in the right direction for answers.

If this is the number you've been calling, that sucks. As I said, I've used that number a dozen times and have always had excellent English speakers with all the info I've needed.

And a link to the 1345 info page: http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/InfoDetailR_en.pt?categoryId=25&parentId=111...

Wow, thats a good tip! I never saw that number before. I'll definatly save it. I guess if you use that number, it will help. Better than my advice, or at least a starting place for your questions.

Re: busan immigration phone number

Anyone tried using 1345 recently?  I can't get call through, and haven't been able to do so for two weeks.  The sites still up, not that that means much.

Tried to call the Busan office again today and the ONE person that speaks English wasn't in the office.  Nice-uh.

Re: busan immigration phone number

Just saw your post and tried calling the number to see if I could get through. I called three times in quick succession. First two times it was busy and the third time I got through. I have found that I have the best luck getting through first thing in the morning, like between 9 and 10 am.
