Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

I've been to this rather difficult-to-find cave twice, but the location is so obscure that I've completely forgotten how to get there.  I know it's in either Beomnaegol or Beomil-dong, but I'm not sure exactly which district.  I also know that it's on one of the back/side streets, and (I think) it has a dragon statue at its entrance.

Anyway, this place is absolutely amazing.  It's a deep, damp cave that's lined with colored lights and a little stream that runs along the walls where water trickles down.  They serve up the most amazing dongdongju and pajeon, and I have friends visiting in November and I want to be able to treat them to this place.

Some solid directions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

Seriously?  Nobody knows about this place?  It's too good of a place not to be known by at least a few expats who have lingered here long.

Come on, people.

Re: Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

It's between JwaCheon Dong and BeomIlDong.  I can give directions, but they're a bit obscure.  However, from Haeundae Department Store, go around to the right so that you are heading for the back (stay outside.), cross the train tracks, then you have to cross a major street (there's a bridge).  After crossing the street, you should go up an alley that is roughly opposite from where you came out after crossing the tracks.   After going up the alley, turn right and look for a metal container.  It's called Dragons Dream or 용꿈.

Like I said...obscure, but I hope it helps.

Re: Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

Edit - Hyundai not Haeundae.  And it's closer to Beomil-Dong Station.

It's around the corner from:

범일 1 동주민 센터  Beom Il 1 Dong Residents Centre.

And pretty much next:

동성 교휘 DongSung Church

Useful?

I tried to GoogleMap it but failed :(

Re: Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

This is very useful stuff, capt_kimchi.  Thanks a bunch!

Also, thanks to everyone else for their contributions.  I knew the KB would come through for me if I posted this here.

Re: Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

I've been in Busan over 10 years and I've never heard of this place! :D

But, I'll be going soon enough! Thanks for the info.

Re: Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

I have their business card in my wallet and the directions you show a  taxi driver on the back are as follows.

(위치: 범일1동사무소 앞 한상기린 아파트 맞은편)

The Han Sang Apts are on the main road you want to be on the opposite side of the road to them and then head up the nearest alley way turn right and it's a few builidngs down on your right.

Here is a Naver Map link. The arrow is pointing to the before mentioned 주민센터

Similar to everybody else's directions I know, but just another take.

By the way the owner was telling me that the caves were actually built by the Japanese during the occupation. Fascinating stuff.

Re: Where is the "dongdongju cave"?

There isn't just one cave place. There are a few dug into the hill in the backstreets between Jwachan-dong subway and Beomil-dong subway. I can't remember exactly: I haven't been down there in ages.

I would just go to Jwachan-dong and walk up a backstreet and then turn towards Beomil-dong and check out any places near the hillside. You obviously will have to do a little leg work.
