Hello all,
my work visa expires soon and i have received my end of contract release.
I have a few loose ends to take care of before i leave and need to stay 3 weeks longer. Is it possible to obtain an extension of stay without leaving the country? Has anyone done this or know of anyone who did. Seems like this must be a common issue as it's pretty hard to leave the exact same day your visa is up in all cases.

A: Yes, it is explicitly stated we have a right to make 30 day extension of stay for a short trip within Korea or for any other personal.
Before visiting the office, you can submit online applications with scanned documents (and your departure flight coupon as well) at www.hikorea.go.kr, make an online appointment to visit their office, and then go there . Reading Korean version is the best, because somehow English doesn't work properly. Or, call 1345 to announce your want on your personal phone. The processing time takes about three days, so you should go visit their office at ease three days before your stay visa expires.
