Getting something translated

Hey,

I need to get something translated from Korean to English, and just wondering if anyone knows of a place to get this done. I've tried looking online, but haven't come up with anything useful. So if anyone has gotten something translated successfully please let me know where you got it done. Thanks

Rachel

Re: Getting something translated

Is it some sort of official document, or something that is going to be published or submitted in any way? Because if not any Korean speaker who's 'fluent' in English will be able to do a pretty decent job for you.

Re: Getting something translated

I wouldnt trust those translation companies too much. my friend paid 70 dollars to have someone translate a recommendation letter so she could work abroad in a hospital (shes a doctor) and they translated on sentence as "whats more surprising is that she became a doctor". I was shocked. She paid three different companies and all of them had horrible translations. If you want, I can help you. I understand most korean as long as its not a document needed for your visa or anything =) i wont charge you either. and you can have your korean friends check it out too.

Re: Getting something translated

I had translated a car manual before.  It was a complete volume of a catalogue with full of photos.  This time somebody asked me to translate a six-page academic thesis to present to an international conference in China this weekend.  I only charge KRW 20K a page for proofreading.  If yours is an easy work to do it could be different, otherwise a single space A4 with no picture gives you a bit of labor work.  I think translation is a creative writing.  That's what it is compared to proofreading.

Re: Getting something translated

The document is a Korean Criminal Background check, so it does need to be done by someone fluent in both languages. Thank you for your help though.

Re: Getting something translated

A notarized translation should be in need of if you like to use that document to apply for a visa.  I think you may do that at a law office nearby a local court town 법원 in Yeonje-gu, Busan.
