Does anyone know about the Tsu Islet (Tsushima or DAEMADO) Japan?

I would like to know if anybody traveled to the closest islet Japan from here in Busan.  It is called Tsushima (Tsu Island) that everybody can view stretches from the Gwangan Big Bridge through the Orukdo Islets or directly from Haeundae beach or New Town.

I like to know it better with a half day travel through an agency.  Or could I just do it myself.  Book a flight or ferry, book a hotel or carry a tent with me, just get over there, and see what it is like.  What I read and heard about it sounds like an historic place for Koreans.

helenreee,

I saw your request about Tsushima island. I have visited there 3 years ago. That is so beautiful and you can feel the japanese life style at there, the house, the people, the food, etc. The place is so clean and so natural. If you need more informaion send me email to me. ([email protected])

That's nice to hear that I wasn't alone who went there. I am planning to go back by the end of December, since I happened to see only the northern part of the islet. If you d been to the south, I d love to hear more about that on my return in two weeks. Thanks for your post,

Helen Ree

Sorry too late my reply.

At that time, 3 years ago, I have been to there, the southern of the islet. It takes about 2h30min from Pusan harbor at there by fast ship. As you know there are two kinds of ship route, the northern and southern islet. To the northern it takes about 1h30min. Well the only ship price is about $85(90,000won) nowadays as I know. In my case 3 years ago I paid just 60,000won including lunch, travel guiding and Bus-fee. A little high now :( Of course that is one-day trip. Usually the start time 9 PM and return time at Pusan harbor is 6PM.

If you need more information. Send email.

Yes, I went to the North this month after having read some ads on Chosun and Pusan Ilbo, getting impressed by the calm and pacific islet with small hills to hike on for a day or two with only for 40k Korean won for a round trip with daea.com ferry boats. It was a grand tour for Chusek holidays, amazingly bargained, with crowd, big smile, and curiosity. It shall be a beautiful place on Christmas and New Year in winter to look, and some adventures from the North to the South when it snows? I did not notice any activity beside fishing, hiking, and shopping.

Well I went this past Friday for the purpose of extending my visa.  Now granted there are no consulates but I just needed to go out and return, and this island is close enough to do it all in one day, so it does save a little.  If I had of been staying a little longer I might of been able to take in some of the sites.  Also perhaps one could do a bit of shopping there but I really did not see anything which could not be found on this side, especially now since we do have Japanese shops here such as Daisoo.  One thing I did notice is that it can be difficult changing money on that side, so to save time you might want to do this before departing Korea.
