We enabled anonymous commenting about 10 days ago as an experiment to see if it encourages more conversation on the site. Anonymous comments need to be approved by a moderator before appearing online.
So far, I'd say the upside is that it has increased the amount of commenting a bit without resulting in too much more spam or nastiness. The downside is that anonymous users cannot edit their posts, be contacted, or held accountable. I'm copying a few related comments from this thread, but would wecome others' thoughts.

Some people like me didnt know why my comments were appearing with my name not mentioned . But I figured out it was most likely because I forget to log in . Also at work I do not want to always log in on sites . It seems to me more people are leaving messages that is good . If something was too bad it would be deleted before being posted . I would suggest some more interesting topics being brought to the table like nice travel places near busan but not just the beach and pomomsa. Or a real debate topic with lots of emotions like the eating of dog meat by koreans If you ever want to wake up some students talk about that topic , The topic of the koreans not liking koreans dating westerners is really an old issue and shows you that some koreans still live in the cave with their racist thinking .
Most people dont use their own names in the pusanweb ID . Some people maybe use more then one ID so for me it doesn't matter . I judge the post by the viewpoint and idea not the name . I dont care if its from annony if its a good view thats cool .
Checking our site logs, the only login attempts I see around the time of your post are for ID's that don't exist. Are you sure you have a Koreabridge account? When Pusanweb.com moved to Koreabridge.net in 2009 users needed to create new accounts. If you'd like to troubleshoot this, contact me with your ID and/or email address and we'll try to sort things out.

Now after seeing it everywhere, I don't care for it. Knowing who posted something serves as a kind of accountability.
After reading several posts by certain people I know whose opinion I trust, with Anon, who knows...

i have a pusanweb id but if i log in it still records me as anonymous and.... im supposed to be remembered as logged in... never mind. Steve

I guess the verdict is in, anonymous guy wins with way more posts than named posters it seems.
I guess this has become a messege board...
