Beware of Phishing!

Be aware of phishing on this site. If you've been contacted by "Sammy Fishers," don't send him money. He is a confirmed fisher.

He'll ask that you and he do a transaction through Paypal, and then he'll send you a highly professional "Paypal" email saying that he has deposited the value of your item plus extra to pay for delivery, but that the money is being held until you send money to the delivery service via Western Union, and you provide the MTCN number. If you sent to the delivery service, he's won.

If Sammy Fishers got you, or tried to get you, let me know.

Re: Beware of Phishing!

Also beware of Brian Clinton..I got an email from these two exactly the same message :]

Re: Beware of Phishing!

If Western Union even comes up once in any interaction, run away and ban the address.

Re: Beware of Phishing!

[email protected] has the same message

Here's the last email that tipped me off.

I was just about to make the payments when I had a little problem with the Picking-Up Agent of the Scooter ,Has i explained to you earlier  that  I am currently on sea and I am buying the Scooter for my dad,I tried to book a Pick-up with my shipping agent,But they asked me to Pay first before they can made the Booking, and they only Accept Western Union Money Transfer for thier payment's and they don't accept PayPal or bank Transfer and I tried to send the Money Online but i could not and I am on sea and there is no way i can find a Western Union Agent to make the transfer to my Pick-up agent,So i wanted to ask if it was okay for me to include my Pick-up agent's fees in the payment's I am about to send through PayPal,my pick up agent charged is $210 plus Insurance and some other document for the pick-up,please can i include their money in the payments I want to send then after i have made the payments you will help me forward the $210 to my pick up agent through Western Union Money Transfer, this I would have done myself and not bother you but for the fact that I am currently on sea, so after I have made the payments you will help me send $210 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer,I just wanted to seek your consent before going ahead with the payments,I will more than appreciate if you mail me back, and I will be made the payments shortly......Awaiting your response soonest

PS:the shipping company's Head quarters is in England and any pick up fees to be paid is sent to their head quarters by the payee, so the money for pick up will be sent to their head quarters in England through western union money transfer(this can be done from any post office) or you can do it online

:( anybody wanna buy my scooter?

Re: Beware of Phishing!

The d!(k head above is the phucking phisher.  Notice his signature misuse of the comma.

Re: Beware of Phishing!

I'll give you some general guidelines. First of all when you see a link, mouse over but do not click on the link. Look in the lower left hand corner of your browser and see what the real address is. If it does not match then this is a phishing scam. Here's another way I use to catch most of them without even bothering to look very much. Get Firefox, and install the Noscript and Web of Trust plugins. Web of Trust will red-circle most of the bad sites. Occasionally a site gets red-circled for political reasons and it is safe to go to those sites. Otherwise just stay away from the red sites. Links in emails (yahoo, gmail) also show up with a colored circle indicating safety. Reporting individual phishers is just a waste of time because they change their email addresses and names often. Prevention and common sense is more effective.

Re: Beware of Phishing!

Just got scammed, this time by Wilmer Caldwell. Unfortunately I got suckered in and did send some money. I swear if I could track these f***ers down, I would break his neck. Stupid me didnt check to see the "Beware of phishing link", would have saved me shitloads of time/money.

Re: Beware of Phishing!

how did you get scammed?i have been receiving emails with links too but never click cuz i assume is a scam, but i just wonder what on earth could make you send money to someone you dnt know, baffles me

Re: Beware of Phishing!

It's Brian Maxwell now. The poster above has a writer's voice just like him. Compare my earlier sampling with his voice.
