Hi folks.
So I've pretty much settled in after a month here, and seeing as how I'm getting my first paycheck in a week, I've decided to blow some Won on loose tea (of the white or green varieties) and Tai Chi lessons. The sad fact is Mega Mart's tea selection didn't really impress me. Yes, I'm a tea snob (and jesus is corn tea ever so terrible).
I'm in the Dongnae area. Any pointers or suggestions?

There are a fair number of teahouses around. I just searched google maps and saw one in Dongnae and a few in Oncheonjang.
Search google maps for 찻집 (teahouse) or 전통찻집 (traditional teahouse). Sometimes they're called 다원 as well.
Most of these will serve green tea, oolong, puerh, as well as a range of traditional Korean and medicinal teas. Pretty sure they sell looseleaf tea as well. You might want to save some of that money for a couple months, though, because the best green tea of the year is harvested in the spring. There's a big tea festival in Hadong, just a few hours from here, where you can sample lots of green teas and buy some of the best ones grown in Korea.

Personally, I get most of my herbal teas from Lotte Dept.Store (rosehip etc.) There's an excellent Chinese tea shop in Seoul off of Insadong's main street where you can get a fine Lapsan Souchong.
The chinese teas here are not overly amazing compared with those you can find in Seoul. Next weekend I'm hitting most of the tea shops in Nampodong (4-5 of them) including the oldest tea house there (all its signs are in Chinese; very old school). Mostly I'm purchasing hardware: portable tea set etc. If you or any out there are interested in a Nampo tea tour (including a stop over at the old teahouse) give me a call.

so now that the tea question is settled for a bit (i have tea to last me a few weeks) can we turn to the question of tai chi? i want to train extensively in this art but have no idea where to go.

If you search on this site you can find listings for a few places. In Korean, Tai Chi is called Tae Keuk Kwon 태극권.
In addition to the ones listed in the forum I saw a school in Suyeong.

Has anyone ever attended a tae keuk kwon academy in Busan? I'm sure lots of people would be curious to hear about that experience.

Starting May 4th, I'll be going to a Tae Keuk Kwon academy. Unfortunately, they don't have their English speaking guy anymore -- so I posted a classified ad looking for a bilingual friend to take the classes with me and help me with Korean translation.
