Who can enter the photo contest?
Except for full time professional photographers and those on the judges panel, the contest is open to anyone (expat, Korean, & anything in between) who is currently living in Korea.

What kinds of photos can be submitted?

Photos need to have been taken during Summer 2011.  How can we tell if it was taken this summer?  We probably can't, but we trust you. Those who publish photos must have the legal rights to publish the photo. We reserve the right reject photos if they are considered in violation of our posting policies.  Each person can submit up to 15 photos.

How can photos be submitted?

All photos must be in .jpg format and the maximum upload size is 5MB. (info about resaving your photos here and  here).  For exhibition and  judging purposes all photos will be resized to an image no larger than 1200 pixels in width or height.  To submit a photo, register at Koreabridge.net.  Click 'Create/Photo'.  Each photo needs a title, but description is optional.  Click 'choose photo' to select your photo. Under tags, enter 'summer2011'.  If the photo was taken in Korea, add the tag 'korea'. If it was taken outside of Korea, add the tag 'travel'. A moderator may need to approve photos submitted by new registrants before they appear online.

Do photographers retain the rights to their  photos?

All photo submissions must be the property of the entrant. No images with third party copyright ownership are eligible for entry. We encourage the use of Creative Commons licensing, but licensing is up to the photographers and can be stated in each photo description. Koreabridge reserves the non-exclusive right to use any images submitted to the photo contest in online exhibitions, publications, or for promotional purposes.

How will the images be judged?

Online ratings will be taken into account, but a judging panel will make the final decisions. Judging criteria include the ability to portray some kind of summer experience in an engaging way, exhibit strong creativity, as well as demonstrate a high level of  photographic quality.   All photos must be submitted by Sept. 21 and annoucements will be made shortly thereafter.

What kind of wacky categories are you going to come up with this time?

Sometimes we don't know until we see the pix, but we will probably include categories like
 - 'Hottest' summer photo
- 'Rainy-est' summer photo
If you have any problems submitting photos or questions about the contest, please post them in the Koreabridge Stuff Forum.

Convenience Store Raid Series: The Great Popsicle Taste Test

In our ongoing attempt to pretend that summer isn't over, Shane and I descended upon the freezer case of the Samsung Big Mart downstairs. We set out to taste our way through the popsicle freezer case. Yes, there is a freezer case devoted almost entirely to individually sold popsicles (and also a case for ice cream).

Fake egg in South Korea?? Personal experience

Hey guys. Last week i bought 10 eggs from 우리마트 at near kyungsung university. When i crack the egg, the yolk almost always broken and mixed with the white instantly. I thought that was very strange, I ate all the eggs in a week, and all of them were mixed with the white instantly.

Today i just googled about fake eggs, and found out that fake egg yolks will always mixed with the white because they are made from the same material.

Pho- Vietnamese Noodles

Hello All,

I sadly just ate at Pho Kim in Sfunz. I remember this place being pretty good when I lived in Korea 5 years ago, but sadly like many things it seems to have changed.

More expensive, smaller serving size and their spring rolls(half the size of before, and rice paper was very thick) they simply said they had changed.

So, I am on the hunt for a new Pho place. I have seen a few places listed here and their but would like opinions of your favorites. What makes them good, what you generally order, etc.

Thanks in advance,

RCMP Criminal Background Check for Canadians already in Korea

Hello!!

I am looking to extend my contract with my current employer since my contract will expire in November. I called Busan Immigration today and they said that even though I will be with the same school, I still need a criminal background check!! My heart sank to the floor. I've heard that it takes at least 3 months.

Can anyone clarify how I can get my RCMP check done in Busan? And if anyone has extended their visas within the last few months, (as a Candian citizen) what did you have to do?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Tourist Visa Run, does anyone have familiarity with this?

I am here in S. Korea to be with my girlfriend who is teaching english, so I am here on a tourist visa. I would like to stay longer than the three months, and I am willing to do visa runs. Does anyone know if immigration here is open to this action, and what process would be best for my situation?

Thanks...
