5.18 Gwangju Uprising: 36th Anniversary Historical Trip to Gwangju

Date:

Sunday, May 22, 2016 - 09:00

This is the 36th Anniversary of the Gwangju Uprising - a watershed moment in Korea’s democratic movement that still inspires people today. By supporting the Korean military government’s suppression of the protests, the U.S. showed a higher regard for economic interests than the democratic aims of defending peace and the Korean people.

How can I find work in Gwangju?

When I lived in Busan, websites like this one were a great resource for finding English teaching work. However, after moving to Gwangju, the natives don't seem to use any that I could find. The only job offers I find for Gwangju on this or similar websites are vague messages from recruiters with every city in the country listed.

How do Korean managers of English schools find foreign teachers if not using websites like Koreabridge or ESLdave? Do they find western people exclusively through recruiters?

Friends Like These

I love the part that friendship and camaraderie plays in Korean society, even well into old-age. This particular band of merry men were sat enjoying the crisp fall weather in Gwangju's Pureungil Park.
