This morning the air is a bit breezy and cool, which means Fall is on its way here. I don't hear any cicadas buzzing, well just a few, but with it not being so deafening anymore this is also a sign of the changing seasons.
No, I don't no where I'm going But I know where I've been Hanging on the promises In songs of yesterday And I've made up my mind I ain't waisting no more time.
Tea came to Korea from China over 2000 years ago. The Chinese drank tea to cleanse their body after eating oily food. The Japanese drank tea as an herbal remedy and the Koreans drank tea for releasing stress and wisdom.
Just a quick thought on this hot evening in Viet Nam while the whole country is celebrating their National Independence day from France, we just returned from the Central Highlands where it was cold and rainy. We drove scooters over 300 km (I drove my own, my first time driving in over a year and first time ever on a motorbike, I did pretty damn good if I do say so) and it was a beautiful drive through lush, green jungle. I love this country and love traveling slowly through it.
A few days before the IAAF World Athletics Championship in Daegu commenced, the president of Korea Lee Myung Bak proudly declared that the championships would inspire Koreans to develop their abilities in this area. But after only five days, Yonhap News declared that Korea is in danger of getting shut out after missing so many goals with their athletes being forced to watch from the sidelines as headline after headline was created by the international community. Did something go wrong, or should they have just not have been so excited?
Rocketman had the day off and was itching to go into Seoul. We first went to Hongdae to do some Christmas shopping at our favorite shop, The Art Box. It was after 11 am when we arrived in Hongdae and so we d
On the 13th of August 2011 there was an event, unprecedented in history, that shook the very foundations of the city of Changwon. May as well enjoy its beauty”. We all had a must-see added to the list of things to do, but what made it easier and complete was renting a car. Can’t have a girl’s weekend without making it a road trip right?
It's here and there around town, sometimes hidden on the roofs of buildings or on the back alley walls, but along the 1 km stretch heading north from the Oncheonjeong subway station, you can see the best in Korean graffiti. Artist, Britt Kee Irvin, talked to some of the artists living on the wall including the most renowned, K2.
Starting September 6th, I will be working Tuesday through Saturday. We are trying this out to bring student numbers up and hopefully rescue our hagwon from closing down. Our company, JY Books has plenty of money and runs as a publishing company, however every session that we have less than 300 students we are costing the company money rather than gaining. Hagwons are a funny thing. Bringing a strong business focus to an educational setting. Mostly focused on the foreigner teachers and using that to bring in the students.
