Korea does extremely well in martial arts styles such as judo, kendo, and taekwondo. There are probably many reasons for this, but one of the main reasons is because of their approach to education and the inclusion of arts into their schools and lifestyle.
Education is Korea's top priority. It's how they brought themselves into global prominence in such a short time. They take a similar approach with martial arts training. Martial art is rooted in Korean culture and it will remain that way. They go about training in a much different way than we do in the west and that includes having school teams for the big styles.
I've always thought that martial art should be in schools in America for many reasons. Maybe we can learn something from Korea and enjoy the benefits of a thorough development program.
