Reports surfaced on Monday that two people were killed and several injured at several locations in China’s embattled Xinjiang region. Authorities haven’t released too many details, but the blasts are suspected to be tied with the trials of prominent Uighurs. Some 3,000 students in Hong Kong have started a week-long protest over Beijing’s proposed system of elections. A Tibetan student self-immolated last week protesting over Chinese rule of Tibet. It was the first in five months. Typhoon Fung-Wong blasted Taiwan, claiming one victim, and now is making its way towards South Korea and Japan bringing with it the potential for flooding and mudslides.
