We went to Seoul for the Flaming Lips and shopping. Lauren and I were greeted at the Seoul KTX Station by Peruvian pan flute players. No, seriously.

The concert was incredible. Started with The Fear. Rocked with songs like Silver Trembling Hands, She Don’t Use Jelly, The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song, In The Morning Of The Magicians, Ego Tripping At The Gates of Hell, Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Pt. 1, The W.A.N.D, etc. Ended with the classic, Do You Realize??

It’s difficult not to like the Flaming Lips. Wayne Coyne is hilarious and lovable, even whilst walking over the crowd in a giant hamster-bubble-ball. The band was enthusiastic and the show was FUN. I wonder what the accompanying Koreans thought about the loads of balloons, confetti, lasers and nude women showcased on the large screen on set.

Lauren and I rounded out the trip with TONS of shopping. We both increased our winter wardrobes and decreased our bank account balances. We slept at a love motel (61,000) and started our Sunday shopping in Dongdaemun. We bought uber cute winter accessories on the streets and visited Forever 21 in Myeongdong. We ate our last meal in Itaewon, pairing together Taco Bell and Quiznos.

It was a good trip. Didn’t get horrendously lost, and just narrowly missed a PMS meltdown. All in all, a good time.
