Waiting out the rain

It’s raining. Walking around in Bangkok sucks when it’s raining. The streets smell worse, some areas are slippery, and the mosquitoes come out to play.

Decided to wait out the rain by listening to, and then subsequently looking up the lyrics to One Night In Bangkok. Cliché? Probably, but I don’t care.

I’ve never really paid any attention to the lyrics before, but I think they’re kind of funny now. Full of lot of interesting idioms, that’s for sure.

My favorites:

“One night in Bangkok and the world’s your oyster. The bars are temples but the pearls ain’t free.”

“I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine.”

“One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble. Can’t be too careful with your company.”

“I’d let you watch, I would invite you. But the queens we use would not excite you.”

I know Bangkok can be known for its prostitutes, but I haven’t seen them. Nor have I been looking for them. Though, rule #8 in my hotel involves not allowing them in my room. Done and done. Also, rule #3 says I’m not allowed to have any infectious diseases. Done and done. I think following rule #8 insures you will continue following rule #3. Rules are rules.

So time to venture out into the rain? Or watch another episode of TOWIE? Maybe the latter first, and then the former.
