Translation: A domino effect leading to the legalization of bigamy and incest?

Another slow week in gay news in Korea. Unfortunately, the most interesting article that seemed worthy of translation was another Kukmin Ilbo piece full of faulty logic and false truths. I guess it is important to know the position of the bigots? Sorry loyal readers, but imagine how much more painful it was for me as the translator.

If same-sex marriage is legalized, it does not simply end at legal recognition of same sex couples. Not only will familial relations be thrown into chaos, but it will also usher in the collapse of the last barrier protecting the family by allowing bigamy and incest. There is also the problem of public health with the spread of AIDS.

Homosexuals think lightly of the social effect of same-sex marriage: If same sex marriage is legally recognized, the strict limitations of the scale of marriage will be expanded. There are a rain of demands for other abnormal conditions to be recognized as marriage and it will be difficult to block them if the judicial system allows same-sex marriage. The conclusion? Family's safety will surely be greatly damaged and worries will increase that children will grow up in an unsafe environment.

If same-sex marriage is legalized, it is likely that couples who are temporarily living together will demand to be given rights as a couple. Groups consisting of a man with many women, many women and many men, and other situations contrary to monogamous relationships can attempt to be legalized.

Truthfully, there are already lawsuits in place in the US that are threatening to upset the marriage system between one man and one woman. In June of 2015, Nathan Collier of Montana wrote a petition to the Supreme Court after their decision to legalize same-sex marriage asking for his polygamous marriage with two women be legally recognized. Collier stated that "The US Supreme Court's decision to recognize gay marriage should similarly be applied to polygamous families."

Meanwhile, Kim Jho Gwang Su (50), who requested a recognition of his marriage to a 19-year-younger man through a non-litigious application to the Seoul Western District's prosecutor's office, argues that "Even if same-sex couples are able to be legally married, the current marriage system would not change." It is hard to avoid his irresponsible claim, and how it turns away from the effect that legalization of same-sex marriage would have on a family.

Same-sex marriage: encouragement of same-sex activity increases danger of AIDS: If same-sex marriage is legalized, our society will cross the last line and could expand same-sex activity. As homosexuality is one of the main causes of AIDS, the infection rate will increase, which will in turn lead to serious dangers to public health.

As if recognizing this, Kim included in his application that "Currently, people are widely mistaken that AIDS is solely a disease that homosexuals get," and "It is not true that the portion of AIDS patients that are homosexual is high."

US Lawyer and idiot Lee Tae-Hee (source)
However, through Kukmin Ilbo articles we can see that this position differs from the truth. In a document of the Ministry of Health and Welfare it clearly states that "Sexual contact between male homosexuals is a main course to spread AIDS" and in a Solidarity for Human Rights report it states that "The majority of AIDS patients in Korea are homosexual men."

US lawyer Lee Tae-hee stated "Homosexuals are demanding legal recognition as a couple for their sexual pleasure and satisfaction while destroying the traditional marriage system and threatening public health."
