Time for a Recap!

And the unveiling of some old photos I found on my phone. I haven’t really posted on my WordPress blog in around a month, so I figured it was time for a quick recap of what I’ve been up to.

I’ve been taking Taekwondo three times a week, and I am now a green belt! Last month, I was invited to a Taekwondo picnic right outside of Busan. There was food, water gun fights, fishing, and a lot of general merriment.

Those were the days. Now, I’m working summer intensive courses. The kids are all off normal school for summer vacation, which means my hagwon can offer extra classes in the morning when everyone usually has school. This summer I’m teaching an Animation/Dictation Listening class using the movie Brave, our end product will involve the students acting out their own scene with the characters they’ve created. Brave is actually a pretty hard movie to understand, even I didn’t know some of the Scottish phrases! And their accent is completely different than what the students are used to hearing. I’m also teaching a News course and a Writing course. My new hours are 9 am to 8pm, Monday to Thursday, which means I will be making almost double my paycheck this month, but also I am exhausted haha. Summer intensives only last three weeks though, and I’ve already got one week down!

Also before my intensives began, I was able to spend a weekend meditating and bowing at a templestay:

And then I forgot about all that self-discipline during mudfest the next weekend:

Mudfest woohoo!

There you go! Recap complete. This weekend is the Uljin Beach Festival, similar to mudfest, but less crowded and without the mud is what I’m hoping for. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Miss you all,

안녕히 계세요!
