Snowy Valentine's Day and weekend recap

Today there is no school! It has been snowing all day! I walked to Top Mart to get some ramen, tuna, and orange juice. I was excited to walk around in the snow and to get some alone time. I realized in Busan, this weekend, that I hadn't done anything/gone anywhere by myself since I have been in Korea. Sunday morning I went to the grocery store, Kim's Club, to get breakfast stuff. Today, I walked to Top Mart. Going to the grocery store is something I really enjoy, no matter where I am in the world. I like to take my time and look at everything. It is really good alone time for me. Today as I walked to Top Mart I smiled to myself and everyone that I passed along the way. I felt so happy, I felt like a kid again! Kids were off school and playing in the snow. I said "hi" to a group of teenage girls with umbrellas. They were surprised that I spoke to them and giggled and smiled. I asked if they were off school and they said yes. I told them to have fun. My spirits were high and I took some photos along the way. At Top Mart I was reminded that it is Valentine's Day today. I bought a little box of chocolates for Steve and I to share. The box says, "You're my soul. Just something to show my feeling. It's nothing spectacular but it's got my heart in it." As for Valentine's Day plans I think that Steve and I may go to Bulloman later to get some chicken to celebrate the day. I am amazed at our happiness and ability to get along so well in such a unique situation. Living in a 10x20 foot room with anyone seems like an impossible task. We have been in the motel room for about a month (on the 20th). We work together and spend pretty much 24 hours of every day together with only minor and infrequent disagreements. So, I guess if you really want to test your relationship with someone or test yourself you could move to another country or live in a motel room for a month or both. Today has been a good day so far, spent reading and watching a movie. I hope you enjoy your Valentine's Day with the ones that you love.  Here are some photos from my snowy morning walk.

Me in the mirror

This weekend was fun and full of adventure! Friday night we were invited to our co-workers cute apartment for some delicious dinner and drinks. Saturday we went to Busan to meet up with Tom and some other friends. We went on a beach hike. There were 7 of us, all foreigners. It was really cool to hang out with so many waygukin (foreigners). We were all taking photos of the beautiful landscape. We walked down some very steep green stairs to hang out on some rocks. It was very beautiful and the weather was excellent. Enjoy the view in these photos

Afterward, we at some delicious pizza, went bowling, and watched the soccer game while having some drinks. It is really nice to hang out with a friend from home. At one point in the evening I looked around the table and forgot that I was in fact in South Korea. It seemed as though I was just hanging out with some friends in the states. It was a really good feeling. It was so nice to meet really cool people that are doing the same thing as we are! Sunday we went to a water temple called Hae Dong Yong Gung. It is a very unique temple as it is by the ocean. It was so peaceful to be there. The smell of incense was floating through the air and chants were being played through loudspeakers. The ocean was crashing on the rocks below the temple ground and the smell and feeling of salt air were all around us. Here are some photos of the Hae Dong Yong Gung.
