Seoul Lantern Festival 2015

17 Nov 2015 | Seoul, South Korea —

This year, the annual Seoul Lantern Festival was from the 6th of November until the 22nd. Luckily, few days before the said festival ended, Danny and I were able to visit it not just once, but twice at 청계천 (Cheonggyecheon Stream) in downtown Seoul. Each year, the beautiful and colorful lantern displays make the stream more lively and appreciated.

This is how the stream looks like during daylight. Taken before the festival.

The first night when we visited, it was 10 minutes to 11. There weren’t too many people, too. From a first time visitor’s point of view: the lights were resplendent! But, we only saw a part of it. They shut everything off at exactly 11pm.  So, we decided to come back 2 nights after and made sure to walk from end to end. Here are my snaps:

I was so happy to see these parols! Proud Pinoy here.

People were amused how the lanterns glow in the night. Some were even patient enough to wait for their turn to release their wish lanterns on the flowing stream.

Usually in any festival here in Korea, there are booths around that sell just about anything. For that event, there were paper lanterns, beauty products, toys, customized candles, LED roses, etc. While roaming around, someone gave us 2 Little Prince coloring postcards for free and I’ve also received a red, LED rose from the husband. ♥

If you missed the festival, be sure to mark your calendars now and catch it next year.
