Random pictures, part 50

If you have any random pictures to contribute, please e-mail them to me at chrisinsouthkorea AT gmail DOT com. They need to have a Korean focus (travel, food, people, culture), and be at least slightly weird. Each picture should be accompanied by a 1-3 sentence description. Contributors receive full credit for their photo(s) and a link to their blog / website.

From Valerie Hamer: ‘Couples underwear’ is quite common in South Korea, As if that wasn’t creepy enough the stores like to display the men’s version on anatomically ambitious models. I have never before seen mannequins with such obvious bulges!

From TomEats: “I finally got the keys to the roof terrace in my building so popped up there to try the Canon 24mm 1.4. I suppose this is a more typical use of a nice wide angle lens and I find it a touch boring. I was constrained as I didn’t have a tripod so just balanced it on my wallet on the edge of the wall.

From Gareth Poole: “We took a picture of the ‘Cat’ in Hongdae near the University on a Saturday – when students are selling arts and crafts close to the University area.” [CISK note: the Hongdae free market rocks!]

From Gareth Poole: this was taken at Yongsan park (Ichon Station I believe). They have quite a few interesting sculptures around the park.

Mmmm… chicken… If there’s one thing Korea does well, it’s chicken – fried, baked, spicy, garlic, boneless, with bones, with beer, with soju… you get the idea.

The Sungnyemun / Namdaemun gate reconstruction looks to be going swimmingly. Seen in downtown Seoul.

Not sure what the chickens did, but usually we just eat them. Seen at a bar in Itaewon.
